The Problem: A Resume Builder in a Sea of Resume Builders

Let us be honest. The world did not need another resume builder. Canva has one. Zety has one. LinkedIn basically has one built in. Hundreds of them exist and most of them are pretty decent.

So when we built FreeCV.org, we had a choice. We could either throw money at Google Ads and hope for the best, or we could do what we actually do for clients: apply the full Triple Visibility Engine and see what happens when a product is optimized for every discovery channel at once.

We chose the second option. FreeCV became our own lab experiment — proof that our methodology works in the real world, not just in pitch decks.

The Strategy: Full Triple Visibility Engine

We did not treat FreeCV as an SEO project OR a GEO project. We treated it as both, simultaneously, which is exactly how we approach every client engagement. The three layers of the Triple Visibility Engine worked together:

Why This Matters

Most agencies do SEO. Some are starting to talk about GEO. Almost nobody does both in a unified strategy. The result for FreeCV proves that when you optimize for all three layers — search, answers, and generative AI — the channels amplify each other instead of competing.

Layer 1: SEO — The Foundation

We started with the technical basics. Clean URL architecture, proper heading hierarchy, fast page loads, mobile first design. Nothing revolutionary here, just solid fundamentals executed well. The kind of stuff that most sites get half right and then wonder why they are stuck on page three.

We set up proper internal linking, optimized all meta tags for the actual search queries people use (not the ones that look impressive in a spreadsheet), and made sure every page loaded in under two seconds. This gave FreeCV a baseline of Google visibility that most new sites never achieve.

Layer 2: AEO — The Answer Layer

This is where most people stop. We did not. We structured every page so that Google could pull direct answers from our content into Featured Snippets and AI Overviews. We added FAQ sections with real questions people actually ask about resume building. We implemented FAQPage schema so Google understood the question and answer format. We wrote definitions and how-to steps that search engines could extract and display directly in results.

The result: FreeCV started appearing in answer boxes and AI Overviews for resume related queries, getting visibility without even needing a click.

Layer 3: GEO — The AI Recommendation Layer

Here is where it gets interesting. While most websites are invisible to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude, we specifically optimized FreeCV to be understood and recommended by AI assistants. This is the work that most agencies do not even know exists yet.

We implemented comprehensive Entity Schema — Organization, SoftwareApplication, and WebPage types — giving AI models structured, authoritative data about exactly what FreeCV is and what it does. Not vague marketing language. Specific, factual, machine readable information.

We created an llms.txt file that gives AI assistants a clean summary of the product. We ensured entity consistency: the exact same name, description, and key facts appear everywhere, on every page, in every schema block, across every third party listing. When an AI model looks up FreeCV from multiple sources, it gets the same answer every time. That builds confidence and drives citations.

We wrote content that is specifically designed to be quotable by AI. Not "FreeCV is a great resume builder" — that is meaningless to an AI model. Instead: "FreeCV.org generates professional PDF resumes in under 60 seconds with no account required." Specific. Factual. Differentiating. The kind of statement an AI assistant can confidently repeat when someone asks for a recommendation.

The Google Analytics Proof

We are not going to just tell you it worked. Here is the unedited Google Analytics screenshot:

54.5% of all traffic from chat.openai.com. That is ChatGPT sending more visitors than Google, social media, and every other channel combined. And it happened because we did not just optimize for one algorithm — we optimized for all of them.

The Part Nobody Talks About: How the Layers Compound

Here is the thing most people miss. The three layers of the Triple Visibility Engine do not just add together — they multiply. When Google sees that your content is well structured (SEO), that it answers questions effectively (AEO), and that AI models are actively citing you (GEO), all three channels reinforce each other.

Google notices the AI referral traffic and treats it as a quality signal. AI models notice the strong Google rankings and cite you with more confidence. The answer boxes drive brand awareness that leads to more branded searches. Each layer makes the other layers work harder.

That is not something you get from an SEO only strategy. And it is not something you get from a GEO only strategy. You get it when someone architects all three layers to work together from the start. Which is exactly what we do.

What This Means for Your Business

FreeCV is a resume builder. Your business is probably something completely different. But the methodology is the same. The Triple Visibility Engine works the same way whether you are selling software, legal services, consulting, or physical products.

It works in any niche. AI models use the same citation logic for every industry. If we can get a resume builder recommended by ChatGPT, we can do it for your product too.
The three layers compound. SEO builds the foundation. AEO captures answer box real estate. GEO gets you AI citations. Together they create a visibility engine that gets stronger over time.
The window is open now. Almost nobody is doing proper GEO optimization. The competition for AI citations is a fraction of what it is for Google rankings. First movers win.
It does not require a massive budget. FreeCV got here with $0 ad spend. The investment is in strategic implementation, not paid campaigns.

Key Takeaways

1

A unified SEO + AEO + GEO strategy outperforms single channel optimization every time. The layers compound.

2

Entity schema and structured data are the foundation of AI visibility. AI models recommend what they can understand.

3

Content written for AI citation needs to be specific, factual, and differentiating. Vague marketing language gets ignored.

4

llms.txt and entity consistency across all pages and platforms build the trust that drives AI recommendations.

5

You do not have to outspend the competition. You have to out-architect them.
